Large Animal Ultrasonography Training

The application of ultrasonography to the study of animal reproduction represents one of the most important technological advances that revolutionized our knowledge of reproductive science. Its use has clarified the nature of complex reproductive processes in cattle and horses, and helped develop reproductive assisted technologies, such as estrus and ovulation synchronization programs and embryo technologies.

The information-gathering capabilities of ultrasonic imaging surpass those of transrectal palpation. Practical applications of ultrasound include interpreting images associated with the stages of the estrus cycle, synchronization protocols, early pregnancy diagnosis, fetal sex/viability diagnosis, ovulation failure, reproductive pathologies, embryonic loss, detection of twins, and applications for embryo transfer. Each of these applications presents opportunities for improving reproductive efficiency and profitability in a dairy operation.

Canadian Veterinary Imaging offers a basic and an advanced course in bovine and equine ultrasonography to veterinarians only. The courses focus on understanding the principals and all practical applications of female bovine and equine reproductive ultrasonography.
